INTO THE REALM OF DARKNESS
EVERLASTING

(article on ENDURA, written by Mark Riddick)

Most of you are probably already familiar with this obscure and limitless cult. They have summoned forth a very impressive discography in only three years. Born on January 15th, 1993 by Stephen Pennick and Christopher Walton who first met in a swamp inside of County Durham (England) to share their passion for Homing Frogs.  Though ENDURA have been easily classified as 'dark ritual music' they do tend to sway a bit and have no problem delving into other musical experimentation's and styles, as they feel that it is necessary to express themselves without any particular intentions. Both Stephen and Christopher have a long history of 70's and 80's musical influences, not to mention their fascination of all things amphibious. These esoteric interests and influences blend together into a unique conglomeration of dark-folk soundscapes, ambient textures, and power electronics. Stephen and Christopher first collaborated in '93 on a cassette release entitled "Hexe" under the ABRAXAS moniker, which was released on their own label, Enlightenment Communications. Since then they have dealt with several prominent labels and even managed to release three albums last year. This band has gained a 'cult' following in several different genres
due mainly to the fact that their labels cater to different musical tastes. Both Stephen and Christopher own a vast knowledge of ancient mythology which is quite often sensed within their brooding occult atmospheres that penetrate such facets as Sumeria, Thelema, and Alchemy. As a live band, ENDURA have been described as 'traumatizing', enough said.  ENDURA's latest CD, "Black Eden" paints a picture of epic sinister orchestration; it is in short, the album that should not have been.
