Hi there Ares, how are you doing today?

- I'm doing just fine, thank you!

What's your opinion on "Ascension Of Terror"? Are you satisfied with production, art-work, sound...?

- We are very satisfied with "Ascension...", we achieved everything we wanted with this album.

To me, "Ascension Of Terror" is quite a new beginning for AETERNUS. I mean, you have a new line-up, while stepping even closer to death metal sound-wise. Do you consider "Ascension Of Terror" a "new beginning" for AETERNUS?

Morrigan- No, AETERNUS is the same as before, though it may seem as if we're trying hard to change our music into death metal. This death metal thing was basically for "Ascension...", nothing else. For our next album, we'll keep some of the stuff on "Ascension..." as  some atmospheres must be taken further and have a place in new material. However, it's time to do something else now as we never had the attention of changing for the actual future of the band.

Why did Morrigan leave AETERNUS? Have you had any personal disagreements?

- No problems between AETERNUS & Morrigan. She had enough of the Metal World, that's basically it, you know.

I believe, Morrigan had an important role in AETERNUS as it was her who's been writing all the lyrics previously. It's obvious that your lyrical content was solely based on her personal beliefs... Do you think she wanted the band sound (and even, BE) different, thus 'crossing your path'?

- Morrigan could often be the first one to say: "No way!"... for sure. However, the result was never a decision based on only what she wanted or what I just wanted. All aspects were always discussed

Is AETERNUS a death metal band to you? To me, yes...

- To me, No! "Ascension Of Terror" is a death metal album in many ways, but I look upon it all as something unique, still, so I won't call AETERNUS a 100% death metal band.

I think you were much into paganism and anti-christianity in the past, am I right? Why?

- Christianity is a decease. Nice and easy, you know. So I have to tread on
that shit as it treads on me.

And now, do you consider AETERNUS to be an antichristian and / or pagan band? You've some new songs with a strong antichristian attitude, such as "Possessed By The Serpent Vengeance", "Slaying The Lambs" or "Denial Of Salvation"...

- I am anti-christian as I am against all that it is.

Maybe "The Essence Of Elder" is the song having more pagan influences than any else. You mention subjects like 'Blood', 'Honor' and 'Power'... therefore, what do these words - Blood, Honor, Power, mean to you?

- These are darkened, powerful things that deal with strength all the way. So, it has a deep meaning and it's essence and existence appeals to me.

What's your attitude to your Fatherland and Culture? Are you proud to be Norwegian?

- I am Norwegian & I am proud to be so...

Thanx you very much for your time...

- Thanx for the interview, my friend.
STAY METAL! Be yourself!
