Does that promo tape you've sent me appear to be your first release?
Furthermore, please introduce it to the readers (as well as the other
releases if you have any)…

- Actually,no...it's just a promo of 2 songs on our upcoming CD. I had a demo in '97 with another lineup, so this is the re-incarnation of LILITU.

The LILITU package I've got had no bio or suchlike stuff, hence it looks like you'll have to tell us few words in regards to your band's past… and I bet, it won't be that hard, since LILITU is a young band.

- Well, I've gone through this a hundred times before, but here we go. LILITU officially began in '97 with Scott Harvey (bass), Holly Strong (drums), Evangelina (vocals) and myself (guitar and vocals). Things fell apart from there. About a year later I met Adina. We recorded the promo tracks with session musicians. Later we hooked up with Evan Jones (drums) and Jason Piona (guitar). Our lineup is stronger than ever!

I found your lyrics to be highly exciting, moreover - written in a nearly unique way. At least, I haven't read anything similar when it comes to goth / metal bands for years… Is there any kind of concept behind 'em?

- Thanks for the compliment. My lyrics are inspired by the negative aspects of life for the most part.  Without going into details, I will tell you that I despise my role here on earth. I know that I was to die at birth, but I'm here and throughout my endurance of this wretched land, my vessel is LILITU. I am also very inspired by literature, poetry adn philosophy. My lyrics are close to the truth.  "The Earth Gods" album is a very natural concept influenced by pagan references and old religion as well.

Who is Kahlil Gibran and what forced you to supplement the lyrics with his cites?

- Kahlil Gibran is my favorite writer. He was an Arabic author / poet / philosopher / artist.  He was born in 1883 in Lebanon. He lived throughout the Middle East and the United States.  His work has inspired millions. I find his work to be completely astounding. My way of thinking is very similar to the way he wrote. He often questioned humanity: his existance.  He refused to separate man from the natural world.

Seems like we'll be able to check out your debut CD in the nearest time to come? Will it be a self-released one?

- Yeah, our CD will be released very soon. We just got the material ready to be remastered and soon it will be sent off to the label and prapared for release on AMP Records our of Poland.

It was rather difficult for me to define your style while writing review and finally I described LILITU as 'a mixture between dark wave and black metal'… Do you agree with such a description? If not, give us your own…

- That description is somewhat suitable, although we are NOT a black metal band. My lyrics are in no way satanic or irreligious. We're beyond all of that stagnant shit.  Although, I cannot deny the elements there. I am still clueless to what proper description to use. I would just leave it at emotional darkwave metal.  We have a ton of musical elements involved in our music, so we're not all metal or all something else , you know?

Have you played any gigs? If yes, whom did you play with and how far did you travel with concerts?

- We've been playing out for about 6 months now. We haven't ventured our of state yet because we haven't received an offer worth accepting.  We hope to play thoughout the entire region in the near future. We have played with most of the local bands here. Also, we served as an opening act for NEVERMORE. That was cool!

May I wonder about the hobbies you have as well as the way you prefer to spend your pastime in the whole?

- I am a very lazy bastard.  I try to do as little recreational activities as possible. I guess that my leisure activities would consist of sleeping and watching porn? Just kidding. I don't watch pornography. In my spare time I listen to music. I have a massive collection of shit. I collect wolf stuff and sailor moon memorabilia. I often attend shows. I can't think of anything else to say now.

What is your opinion on Mother Nature? Few pals of mine nearly worship it considering Nature to be the only true god and deity… Moreover, what about animals? Are there any whom do you truly love / hate most of all? (If talking about me, I have two cats at home, however dogs seem to be disgusting creatures to me and I just can't help it, heh...)

- She has been very generous to me and others. Growing up she was the only mother I had. I am definitely in tune with her. My background is that of Native American desent, so it's in my blood, ya know? It's cool that you mention worshipping 'mother nature' because that's the kind of concept we have on our debut album, "The Earth Gods." With a more pagan aspect...I love animals!  I also have a cat named Orlock. I adore him. I also like dogs,  pure bred dogs. Of course they have a different aura about them. But, my  favorite animal is without a doubt, the wolf. Canis Loopis has inspired man since the early ages. They are truely beautiful and mystical creatures.

Are you acquainted with the feeling of true spiritual, tranquil solitude? Have you ever wandered the woods at night, talking with the trees within yourself, sitting near whether lake or river, transmitting your thoughts to it… when you sense you're the part of Nature, when you can easily mix with it's children and no human being should be near in order to keep this reverie inviolable…?

- I have nothing but solitude in my life. You should know this, man. No, I often wander throughout the forest at night. You see, I am really a werewolf and I get my exercise during the midnight hours. I also prey on young innocent death metal bands. Okay, moving along...

What kind of person are you, Adina? Does your image (while being a part of LILITU) differ from your earthly… erh, let's say 'ordinary' life (while being Adina Blase)?

- You know, I should have answered this first because, man, are my fingers tired from re-typing Derek's shit here. Adina is a small lady with a tough shell. I'm the same person outside of as well as inside LILITU. My name itself means "delicate, tender and mild" so I guess that is a good description of me insides. And if anyone wants to know anything else about me they can contact me personally.

Have you heard anything regarding Russia? Any Russian metal bands you're familiar with?

Derek: I am familiar with a few Russian bands. MENTAL HOME would be the first to come to mind. Also S.C.A.L.P. and a few others. I can't remember right now.
Adina: Yeah, MENTAL HOME of course and also GODS TOWER. I used to write them but lost contact.

Ok, anything you want to say to wrap up this chat?
