First of all… since you’re quite a young band, tell me what qualities separate you from the mass of these (fag)gothic acts spawning in a truly enormous number nowadays…

- Because we are not a couple of 16 year olds (we are in our twenties by the way) who learned to operate a preprogramed drum machine and decided to start a gothic band because its the cool thing to do now. Second, we are not all doom and affliction. Our songs have range, while the content on "The Plate Glass..." is not so diverse, because it was recorded  in during a pretty hard time, our songs deal with the full range of emotions. Happiness, sadness, anger, love etc. etc. We also don't sound like anyone else, it would actually be impossible for us to. We don't record our music with conventional methods, we just do what works or whatever we can. I also think it has a lot to do with the fact that while most bands are straying from guitars and going to keyboards we are doing the oposite.

If I’m not mistaken, you belong to the male part of population :), however how would you then explain the fact of using female name (Eve)?

- Why not? I know boys named Tracy and girls named Corey, why does a name have to symbolize what sex you are? If you like a name and in a case like mine, where I don't want to use my real name, then why can't you use it? If you really think about it logically, LITTLE MISS.CONCEPTION, male singer, name is Eve. (misconception, Eve, male)

That MCD you’ve sent me doesn’t include any lyrics, consequently I’d like to know more concerning the lyrical canvas behind “The Plate Glass Fallen Sky”.

- The lyrics are all on our website. Most of it is dealing with being away from a loved one for a long or extended period of time and not being able to do anything about it. The title "The Plate Glass Fallen Sky" is a methapore for looking into someones eyes after they have been crying. The theme, like I said earlier, was basicaly based on our current situation. That is how we write, we just focus on what is currently going on in our lives and around us and feed off of that energy.

Most songs come from the year of 1999, however there’s one tune (“Cold”  to be exact), which is a song from 1997… What were the reasons for including one old song among the new ones?

- It was always a favorite and the only way it was ever released was off of  the Kyan comp. so we decided to throw it on so we could release it ourselves.

The cover says, “The Plate Glass…” features additional contributions by Emaenne Leath and Earl S. Who are they and what was their part in recording this MCD?

- Old band members, Emaenne was the guitarist at one time before his visa ran out and he was forced to return to New Zealand, some of the ideas in writing some stuff came from work he and I had started on and never finished. Earl is a long time friend and has always been sort of the producer, technical genius, and keyboardist. His helped focused more on the recording and production aspects of the album, if I got myself stuck or could not figure something out I would give him a call and he would tell me what to do.

Are you the only left in the band at the moment? Why happened to Jenne?

- Not that I am aware of. Jenne is still with me, as a matter of fact we are finally moving in together in April and hope to be married soon.

Let’s talk about typical goth image a bit… You know, it always seemed to be loathsome to me… when man becomes woman, or more likely, something in between, agamous creature. Why does it attract such an enormous number of various individuals? I see no grimness or whatever alike here, if that’s what you try to reach…

- I don't think, for the most part, that it is trying to be angronginous. There is a very wide range of why goth guys like to wear  make up and get dressed up.
1. Its fun, get made up, go out and have a good time.
2. To be pretty, or scary, or spooky, etc.
3. It gives you a chance to escape, maybe makes you feel more confident when your behind make up or something similar. After working so hard over the week and struggling through life then you are entitled to do whatever it is that makes you relax or lets you have fun. Something needs to be there to give you an escape or else you'll go nuts. I know at least on my behalf that I am not trying to look like a girl or  half and half or anything. I just like the look and I always have.

Few Finnish friends of mine are also doing a ‘zine and one of them once invented rather tough question, at least no one could answer it yet. The same question I’m gonna ask you: what colour is a colour that doesn’t exist? A little hint – it’s neither black nor white (they aren’t colors, hence they do not count)…

- I don't know. Clear?

What is mass culture to you and, generally speaking, is it so moronic, this “mass character”?

- I'm not sure what you are speaking in terms of. If your talking about the MTV, baby boomer, every day, easily assessible, "acceptable", culture then yes its moronic. But it depends on where you are, if you are one of the ones who are making all of the money off of it then I guess your not so moronic are you?

What is your view on the problem of overpopulation and what are the solutions to it; of course besides enkindling mass-killing plagues?

- I think if we were to populate more areas and stop trying to force people into only a few areas of the world then we wouldn't be as overpopulated as most think. Here in America we have a few large cities spaced out over thousands of miles away from each other and extremely sparcly populated areas in between. If we started expanding the cities outward instead of upward then we would cut down considerably the amount of congestion we face everyday. That or we could convert more people to goth make then buy our albums and make them as sad as possible so they would kill themselves. :-) hehe.

Do you know anything regarding Russia? What is your attitude to the country of mine as well as it’s people? Any Russian bands you’ve heard lately?

- Not really, I think it was just a few days ago that I found out that Boris  Yeltsin was dead so you may consider me a little out of touch :-). As a matter of fact I'm not even sure if that is true yet or not. But I do understand you are in the process of rebuilding and reorganizing and I think thats great. While I'm not there so I could never understand how hard that has to be I still think things might be looking up. I hope. It is place that I have always wanted to visit and have been fasinated with over the last few years. And the figure skaters are great :-).

That is it, this interview has come to it’s inevitable, logical end. Fare thee well.

- Take care and thanks.
