A new ABORYM album (IT) entitled "Fire Walk
With Us" is planned to be
released November 2nd 2000 under Scarlet
Records. A limited version of the previous "Kali Yuga Bizarre" album is
out now on picture disc format. This work can be described as extremely
aggressive and in a more experimental direction with inhuman beats filled
by industrial-esoteric noise inferno...huh? It features a cover of
BURZUM, also present on "Visions" (a double CD tribute to BURZUM) released
by Cymophane Records. They spread the word of Shaytan since 1991, so let's

ANCIENT
"God Loves The Dead" is the title of the
upcoming mini album with
ANCIENT. The title track has previously
been released on the LP version of "The Halls Of Eternity" but not elsewhere.
The mini album will also include live recordings, remixes, a new version
on "Trolltaar" as well as a cover song. The disc will also include 2 videos
for PC of the songs "God Loves The Dead" and "Um Sonho Psycodelico", both
previously unreleased. A video for "I, Madman" will also be done during
the summer. Aphazel and Deadly Kristin are almost ready with the recordings
of their side- project DREAMLIKE HORROR. This is a kind of gothic / ambient
/ horror project with some black metal parts. There has not been signed
any record- contract yet. A release of this should be out sometime after
the summer. At last, there's a new stable drummer in the band, GroM. ANCIENT
recently parted ways with Krigse due to personal and musical differences.
Metal Blade feel that the current line-up is the best ANCIENT have had
so far, with great musicians...there is a great unity, devotion, professionality,
friendship and harmony between the current members and that all reflects
in a great team-work and excellent results. All this will reflect greatly
on the new material, recordings and live performances to come. Therefore
the label wishes to wait no longer to make it as official and known as
possible. This looks to be the most stable of the ANCIENT line-ups and
should remain such for a long long time." "God Loves The Dead" will be
out the 23rd of October.

ANGRA
Rumors have begun circulating in recent weeks that Brazilian progressive rock / metal band ANGRA has broken up. Though certain members have split from the group, the band has not called it quits. Guitarists Rafael Bittencourt and Kiko Loureiro have decided to carry on the ANGRA name and tradition, while singer Andre Matos, drummer Ricardo Confessori and bassist Luis Mariutti have gone their separate ways. The duo is already auditioning new members and writing songs for ANGRA's new album (release date to be scheduled). More news about the developments shall follow soon. Following is a letter from the guitarists explaining the reasons for these decisions.
"Dear Friends,
This has been a tough moment. We feel sorry
for what's happening and for the involvement of so many people, even though
we still believe things will be sorted out. We're not here to judge the
attitude of our former bandmates. All we can do is communicate the facts
from our perspective. We have recently been notified of their decision
to "abandon the ship." Troubles? We would be lying if we denied their existence.
We have some administrative problems, which are already being solved accordingly.
The group members had different views about the way to face such problems.
Some were thinking about solutions that could bring better results for
the group; the others gave up and left. After nine years, we do think its
pretty natural to have problems. Very strange it would be if there weren't!
What hurts us the most is the fact that we didn't build enough of a bond
among ourselves to face them together, as adults.
We truly believed that no disagreement
should harm the important body of work we had built together. Due to that,
we were excluded from all
decisions of the band since the end of
last year. They simply refused to listen to what we had to say, which was
the importance of the five
sticking together. There are always good
chances of a satisfactory
conclusion. When we talk, we show respect
for the different opinions.
Unfortunately, in this case, there was
neither talking nor respect! We feel for the fans and for all of those
who are in some way involved with us.
Why force the fans to divide their feelings
among the members? Why is it so hard to accept that people sometimes do
have different opinions? Discussions always lead us to good conclusions
and evolution.
We won't spit on the ANGRA name, throwing
it away as if it was an old toy. For us, it's all about moral principles,
professionalism and respect to the fans. We are ready for our future and
to give to our fans another part of our hearts and souls.
Everyone in this band, with no exceptions,
has made mistakes of the same proportion throughout the years. After all,
we are human beings and perfection will never be a human gift. But all
of us should be ready to accept our own mistakes. By doing so, we're moving
forward into a new era. Renewed, stronger and re-structured.
The essence of what ANGRA was resided in
the chemistry between the five members, not within one, two or three. But
the love of the fans is the seed and we shall continue sowing it in the
fertile grounds of good music, watering it with our passion for our duties.
We wish all the best for our friends, and
hope one day this moment of
madness can be left behind in favor of
all the special moments we've been through together.

We are sad to announce that longtime deathsters ASPHYX have decided to call it quits. Here is an official statement from Bob Bagchus (drums): "The reason of this statement is that after 13 years Asphyx has decided to stop! We know, we've said it before, but now it's for real! The main reason for this final decision is that our guitar-player, Eric Daniels, cannot combine the band with his job any longer. He had serious problems combining things, couldn't give 100% to the band any longer, frustration kept growing and so he decided that it was better to stop completely. characterized by BAL-SAGOTH's trademark twisted genius, infused with pure
erudite
lunacy and utter symphonic bombast. Additionally,
the new material is far more dark and malevolent than anything that has

to the very limits of one's
darkest imagination and beyond. The celebrated
"Hyperborean Empire"
saga reaches its third and final chapter
on the new album, as events

of Hyperborea culminate in

BLIND GUARDIAN
German power metal veterans BLIND GUARDIAN have nearly 70% of their next album written. Lyrically, there will be a topical issue for each song. The music is reportedly a straight progression of "Nightfall In Middle Earth" and "Imaginations From The Other Side", though the band assures that there will be some surprises, of course. At least one song (the longest they have written so far: 12 minutes) will be dedicated to author J.R.R. Tolkien. They will start the recordings in October and the album will be produced by the band and Charly Bauerfeind. The album won't be released before the end of May next year and definitely no later than October 2001.

Simen Hestnaes (aka ICS Vortex) decided to fully concentrate on his duties
with DIMMU BORGIR and work on their forthcoming album. Therefore the rest
of BORKNAGAR had no choice, but to end the current era with Hestnaes in
order to gather a band that is 100% dedicated to BORKNAGAR. Of course we
are not only more than sorry for the confusion about the tour, but also
hope that our fans can understand our position and decision. Even though
there seems to be an eternal curse on BORKNAGAR, the past has shown that

DARK TRANQUILLITY
"Haven" is the title of the new DARK TRANQUILLITY
album which was released on July 25th. Once again produced by Fredrik Nordstrom
at Gothenburg, Sweden's Studio Fredman the group's latest output features
a heavier direction with more aggressive vocals as compared to last year's
"Projector" album. The band are touring in Europe with SENTENCED, IN FLAMES
and TO DIE FOR throughout September. Century Media USA is also proud to
announce that they made the band's first
two classic efforts, "Skydancer" and "Of
Chaos And Eternal Night", available domestically on one CD with brand new
artwork created by guitarist Niklas Sundin. The reissue was released on
September 19th.

Austrian tonetravellers KOROVA have left Napalm Records to mutate and perform their forthcoming kills at Red Stream (U.S.A.). LACUNA COIL
The Italian melodic metal composers LACUNA COIL are tightening up their new material in time for their mid-October studio entrance. Judging by the maturity and down-right brilliance showcased on their latest release, the "Halflife" EP, expect the band to take you on another awe-inspiring journey as they lay down their strongest material ever that will see a worldwide release early 2001.
MADDER MORTEM
All the way from Norway, this eerie dark
metal band with plenty of somber atmosphere and majestic female vocals
are one of the most promising acts around within the post-gothic metal
style. The band have been around since 1993 (under the name MYSTERY TRIBE)
through the core of brother / sister Agnete (vocals) and BP M. Kirkevaag
(guitars) and made quite a shining impact on the scene with their "Mercury"
album, released in early 1999 on Misanthropy Records. The band have gathered
new members Eirik Ulvo Langnes (guitars), Pal Mozart Bjorke (bass) and
Mads Solas (drums) and are currently working on material for their upcoming
album, "All Flesh Is Grass". Judging by the demo material, we can expect
some very original gloomy metal with influences from various styles containing
plenty of catchiness and power. Recordings will take place at Studio Underground
in Sweden (TERROR 2000, NECRODEATH, etc.) in October. Here is a statement
from Agnete, "After a period of inactivity due to the search for new band
members, MADDER MORTEM are now back on track. We have confirmed a new and
excellent line-up, and are currently working on our second
full-length, "All Flesh Is Grass". Thus
far, the cooperation with Century Media has given us the impression that
there is genuine interest in MADDER MORTEM within the company. MADDER MORTEM
are happy to work with a label that deals
in heavy music, and we hope and believe that signing to Century Media will
give the Madder Music a possibility to reach further."
MENTAL HOME
While their new album "Upon The Shores Of
Inner Seas" was just released in April, these talented Russians have already
begun writing the next album. Four songs are already completed and more
are on the way. In the meantime, "Upon The Shores Of Inner Seas" is doing
very well, being praised by media as the band's most mature and progressive

Morgul mastermind Jack D.R. will be entering

We're currently making new songs, and the first one is called "Orgy With The Dead"... We've got a couple of other songs we're working on as well, no titles yet.. So much work with PAGAN RITES at the moment.
The musical style of Autopsy Torment is NOT the same as in 91/92.. Hard to explain.. I'll let you be the judge of that (remember, it's been 8 years since last time ;) and doing the same stuff would sound too much like PAGAN RITES, so the style is different.. Still Death metal though, with some horribly cool vocals by Thomas...
There's a chance that both older PAGAN RITES stuff & AUTOPSY TORMENT will be released by Static Age, but that's not decided at all yet, just some smalltalk.
TRISTITIA? Well, Galvez is alone and pretty
much a dickhead. He's a heavy alcoholic, and nobody wants to play with
him... Last CD got reviews like (enough and more for "Ett med Naturen"...),
and I don't think it's going so well. Thomas wasn't on the last CD anyway.
He had some guy sing in a Heavy Metal Ballad voice ;) and it didn't turn
out so well... Heard something about Holy Records not wanting to prolong
the contract, but that's nothing I'd put my hat on, so don't mind my rumours...
Still, Galvez asked Thomas about coming back to do the vocals, but recently,
Thomas said no.. Big changes: Kalle doesn't drink anymore at all, and hasn't
been for a long time... Thomas is hardly drinking anything at all as well,
but he's still drinking beer when we're celebrating something, and the
rest of us is normal
partydoods...
Hehe, Harri actually had to threaten Galvez with a knife to get him to leave the apartment... That shows you what Galvez's turned into...
Adrian: don't know... He told Galvez to stick it a long time ago, and afaik. don't play in any bands...
We're all pretty excited about doing the Pagan Rites stuff. Seems like people like it. And I've gotten some great comments about the "Orgy With The Dead" sample I've sent out. Thomas has sent it to some folks, but I haven't heard anything about it yet...

THE GATHERING
THE GATHERING's new effort, "If Then Else",
was released on July 25th and has already appeared on the German charts
at #76! Recorded at Studio S & K and mixed by Attie Bauw at Bauwhaus,
the new album features a blend of their prior three studio albums with
a stronger, more immediate rock flair as witnessed on standouts like first
single "Rollercoaster", as well as "Shot To Pieces", "Bad Movie Scene",
"Beautiful War" and "Saturnine". Vocalist Anneke van Giersbergen
had this to say about the band's latest
offering, "The sound has changed again a bit but it is for the better I
can tell you. The guitars are more rough, with an edge, and we experimented
with effects on the vocals, drums and bass. The songs are shorter, and
the album itself is way shorter than "How To Measure A Planet?". We felt
this should be a kick-ass, in-your-face album, but there is also a good
deal of trippy stuff on it." The band will be touring Europe
throughout November (see Tour Dates section

TORMENT...
... is a Brutal Death Metal band from Brazil.
They would like to do some shows in Europe (October 2001), with the intention
to divulge their first CD (recorded the first semester of 2001). Their
first tape 'HYPNOTIZED BY THE PROFANE FLAMES' is still available, and it
still has worldwide recognition! They just need show dates, food and sleeping

VOMITORY
Now signed to Metal Blade and have finished
the recordings for their
third album 'Revelation Nausea' (first
one for Metal Blade). The album was recorded and mixed between the 14th
and 31st of August in Berno Studio, Malmo, Sweden. It's produced by Henrik
Larsson, the same guy who produced their last album "Redemption". As they
parted ways with their old singer, bass player Erik Rundqvist took over
the vocal duties. This is not something temporary. It's the strongest line-up
ever in the band history says drummer Tobias Gustafsson! On the track "The
art of war", Cliff from DRILLER KILLER does the backing vocals. The cover
is a piece of art from Peter Wallgren onceagain.

WOLFEN SOCIETY
After the break up of the black / death
Metal band ACHERON, founder Vincent Crowley decided put together a new
musical project with others he respected in the music scene. The first
person he talked to was Jeff Gruslin (ex-VITAL REMAINS). The two decided
to put this musical war machine together. Gruslin told Crowley that INCANTATION
drum Kyle Severn was living in the Columbus area. Crowley meet up with
Severn and everything just clicked. Later, Crowley asked Thomas Thorn and
Ricktor Ravensbruck of THE ELECTRIC HELLFIRE CLUB if they would be interested
in working with WOLFEN SOCIETY. They agreed. After a month of putting the
wheels in motion, Crowley started talking to Lord Ahriman of DARK FUNERAL.
The two became good friends and Ahriman was offered the position of Rhythm
Guitarist. Lord
Ahriman accepted and the Wolfen brood was
now complete.
The band was preparing to head into the
studio to record their MCD "Conquer Divine". Right before going into the
studio Jeff Gruslin decided to back out of the project. At this time Crowley
took over as the main vocalist, with help from Thomas Thorn. On September
15th, 2000, the band all met up in Columbus, Ohio, to record their debut
MCD. The chemistry of the band was very strong and everything worked out
great. After a long weekend of chaos and alcohol, the "Conquer Divine"
MCD was born. The MCD featured the songs CONQUER DIVINE, BLOOD OATH, LIFE
IS WAR and a cover song of CARNIVORE's classic misanthropic song RACE WAR.
The whole reason for doing this MCD was
do demo it to bigger labels.
"Conquer Divine" should be released in the United States by the end of 2000 on HOUSE OF DEATH RECORDS. The band is presently working out a European distribution deal, which should have the MCD out in europe sometime next year in 2001.
After the MCD is released, the band will be looking to find a new label to record their first full length album with. The title of that will be "Misanthropic Race" and will feature the songs RISE OF DER WOLFEN, BLOOD OATH (Pactum Tacitum), POWER AND MIGHT, GODLESS WORLD, ARMAGEDDON MYTH, ORDER FROM CHAOS, LIFE IS WAR, MILLENNIUM'S END and THE NEW AGE. This will be a very original sounding creation. WOLFEN SOCIETY hope to be recording "Misanthropic Race" sometime in 2001, if all goes well.
