MALEVOLENT CREATION's U.S. tour has been postponed till late July through August. Upon returning from their European tour on March 1st, vocalist Brett Hoffmann was arrested at U.S. Customs at Miami's airport for a warrant for his arrest dating back to 1995 for a violation of probation charge. This will see Hoffmann serving 60 days in a Florida jail. Without Hoffmann the band obviously cannot tour, so on behalf of Arctic Music and the band we are very sorry about this setback. The band will reschedule this tour for the summer, and promise it will be crushing!! For the first time they will play material from all 7 of their murderous releases, and will be recording most of the shows for an up coming Live Album!!! KULT OV AZAZEL's debut release for Arctic Music is finally ready to be released to the masses on March 27th. Titled "Triumph Of Fire," this CD will set new standards for American black metal. This 11-song assault of cold, grim, fast and deadly black metal will easily put these masters of the black arts into the black metal elite. Upon

HATEPLOW, after returning from their European Tour, is currently writing music to their follow up to last year's "The Only Law Is Survival" (A monster in it's own right!!!) and say the material is said to be even faster and leaning towards a more grindcore
sound. Also, a new bassist has been brought into the band after the departure of bassist Doug Humlack (who apparently disappeared before the bands European Tour in February). Taking over bass duties will be Julian Hollowell (a.k.a. Xaphan - guitarist for black metal band KULT OV AZAZEL). Julian did a great job filling in on bass for the European tour and will now become a permanent member of grinders HATEPLOW. Expect something released later this year by HATEPLOW.

In other news, Arctic Music is also in negotiations with France's Listenable Records to release new music from the bands DERANGED, ABORTED and CENTURIAN. Let's hope everything will be worked out because these releases are all deadly. It also looks like we will be releasing the debut CD from Greece's HOMO IRATUS entitled "Human Consumes Human." This bizarre death metal act will without a doubt freak you out. As soon as more news comes in, and everything is worked out, we will have mp3's available on our website. We are
still looking for new brutal talent, so all worthy bands should submit their promotional material to us.

Another month has brought many more exciting happenings in and around Dark Symphonies. The momentum we gained from the launch of our new website along with all the postive responses our artists are receiving from around the world just makes us more determined than ever to exceed our goal of bringing the finest musical releases to all of you who make up the community of extreme music. It's all about the music at Dark Symphonies. Read on and see for yourself...

1.  The launch of our new website has been a complete and total sucess! We want to thank all of you, our customers and visitors, for your patience and helpful suggestions as we worked out most of the 'bugs' during the first month of operation. In the very near future, you will have the opportunity to take full advantage of PayPal when making your purchases on-line at our webstore. Of course, we will continue to strive to bring you all the finest releases that the
extreme music scene has to offer.

2.  It's official! Dark Symphonies is extremely proud to announce that we are now the new home for BRAVE! The opportunity was perfect for both BRAVE and DS to make a commitment to each other for a brand new full length CD. Brave has already begun writing new material for their debut on Dark Symphonies. In the mean time, the band is going to release their brilliant mcd "Waist Deep In Dark Waters" so everyone has a chance to hear the musical progression they've made since "Before An Audience Of Stars." And if you haven't already experienced the re-release of the majestic "Before an Audience Of Stars," what are you waiting for?

3. As we mentioned last month in our newsletter, Dark Symphonies has been accepting promotional materials from bands located in Europe. Well we've done it! Dark Symphonies has reached across "the pond" to the country of Hungary for the newest member of the DS Family. We are very excited to announce that we have signed WITHOUT FACE to the DS roster! WITHOUT FACE is comprised of seven members who perform dark, progressive metal blending haunting melodies, massive guitar riffs, and the beautiful vocals of Julia Kiss. Their debut cd entitled "Deep
Inside" was released by Hammer Records in March of 2000. And in February of this year, WITHOUT FACE performed with THE GATHERING. Dark Symphonies extends its warmest and darkest welcome to
WITHOUT FACE!

4.  After listening to the rough mix demo material handed to us by MAUDLING OF THE WELL, we can confirm what we have believed all along; MOTW's new music will simply astound both fans and critics alike. The two full length cd set will be entitled "Bath" and "Leaving Your Body Map" respectively. The band is currently putting the finishing touches on both mixing and artwork (done by Tobias once again!). So expect a late spring, early summer 2001 release date... PREPARE!

5.  We've had several inquiries regarding the re-release of NOVEMBERS DOOM's "Amid Its Hallowed Mirth" originally released on Avantgarde. Yes, Dark Symphonies will re-release "Amid..."  in the future with brand new packaging. However, there will be no bonus cd as part of this special release. We apologize for any confusion.

6. Dark Symphonies is proud to announce the launch of its new
subsidiary label, Lure of Lorelei! Some of you may recall that we originally planned to use the name "SirenSongs" for this venture... however, someone already possesses that name! Back to the drawing board for us then, and after some brain crunching, we arrived at our current name. We all think Lure of Lorelei has a even darker sound than SS! "Lure... " will deal solely with beautiful female-fronted gothic, darkwave and neo-classical acts in the "heavenly voices" vein. As of yet, no bands are officially signed, but we do have a few

SCARIOT take their first step's into the live arena with a show at THE FOLKEN, STAVANGER (Norway). The band share the show with GEHENNA and CARPATHIAN FOREST on APRIL 6th. For further SCARIOT info check out their new website at www.scariot.com

VEIL OF SORROW finally see their debut album "DARK RIVERS OF THE
HEART" (DEMCD 105) released on APRIL 16th. The final track listing is; IN THE MIDNIGHT HOUR, SOULCAPTIVE, THE DARK WITHIN, SCARS, SHADES OF GREY, REMNANTS OF A DYING SUN, WELL OF BROKEN WISHES, SILENT FALL, DISCONNECTED, WORDS MEAN NOTHING. Hailing from the dark metal shores
of Sweden, this young four piece outfit, painfully moulded their own
unique style of metal, in the cold rehearsal rooms of their home town Bollnas. Releasing 3 self financed demos (on CD and cassette) it
wasn't until March 2000 that DEMOLITION finally got to hear the bands "Promo 99" cassette. Recording began later that year in Sweden's
Soundcreation Studio, production and engineering being handled by Per Ryberg. After almost 2 months, this, the bands debut CD, finally
breathed life..." Dark Rivers of the Heart" gives to its listeners, a journey both into the light and darker sides of the mind, a journey
which touches both the Metallic and Gothical genres of music to
produce an album of truly epic proportions...Watch out for live dates during the Summer!!

SACRED SIN have their debut album for DEMOLITION released on APRIL
9th. "TRANSLUCID DREAM MIRROR" (DEMCD 111), looks like being one of
the most important metal albums we've released so far. The final

• Mr. Chris Forbes, known for his honest work with METAL CORE
FANZINE and who also manages the mighty IMMOLATION, will be handling DIES IRAE PRODUCTIONS promo mailings for the following territories;
the US, Canada and Mexico from now on. For those of you within the
mentioned territories, please contact Chris at MetalCZine@aol.com if interested in receiving our promos. Chris will lend DIES IRAE PRODUCTIONS his mighty hand beginning from DIM MAK's second album, "Intercepting Fist", the band's sophomore effort which will be out on DIES IRAE PRODUCTIONS.
• They have confirmed the dates for the new DIM MAK album which
is entitled "Intercepting Fist". The band has begun recording from the 6th to 20th January 2001. They've flown over to Florida for this next effort and it is engineered, produced and mastered by Erik Rutan himself in his very own studio, Dimensional Sound Studios! Expect a
much more killer sound than the band's previous effort. On top of
that, we at Dies Irae have already got the chance to listen to DIM
MAK's advance tracks and they all think that the new album will rule
supreme!!! The release date is yet to be confirmed. However, if
everything goes as planned, it should be safe to say that a
March / April release is possible. Paw Nielsen will most likely be
doing the artwork again this time. And yes, DIES IRAE PRODUCTIONS
will stick to their usual practice of making the first pressing of
1000 or 2000 copies a limited edition. In what form, you may ask?
Well, they'll think of something. Whatever it is, they'll make sure
it'll be worth your every penny!
• Also, they'd like to take this opportunity to announce our most
recent signing, FLY MACHINE formerly known as the mighty CONFESSOR
(previous releases out, and some still available, on Earache
Records)!!! As we all know, CONFESSOR made it on the "Top 100 album
of the 90ies poll" in both Metal Maniacs and Terrorizer Magazine. It
is really hard to describe them but if you've heard CONFESSOR before, then you'll have an idea of what FLY MACHINE is all about... only
better, perhaps?!! Tentatively, the recording will commence sometime
in June 2001. More info will follow as the day of wrath draws near...
• They have yet to finalise the recordings of our other equally
great bands; namely DEATH OF MILLIONS, STARGAZER & INVOCATION.
• Be sure to check out the new MELECHESH album which will be out
on OSMOSE PRODUCTIONS in due time soon! They are, to them, one of the very best bands around and definitely worth checking out! This is one other release, which is not on DIES IRAE PRODUCTIONS, that must be

DVS Records

ALIAS EYE start recording vocals very soon.

German artrock band ALIAS EYE have finished recording the basic tracks of their album "Field of Names" and is currently adding additional keyboard material. Lead singer Philip Griffiths is waiting for the rest of the band to complete the music before starting on the vocals. The band is very pleased with results so far. Recordings should be finished by mid-Febuary.

ASHES TO ASHES are finishing the new album.

Norwegian ASHES TO ASHES are pretty much finishing up the new album and we are very exited about the first songs we heard hear ta DVS. The album is likely to be called "Cardinal VII" and will be released in October 2001. Some of the lyrics will be loosely based on the seven cardinal sins. The band will however not "limit" themselves to the concept, but they say that in the future it might be interesting
to do a conceptual album. This time ASHES TO ASHES will take the music to both extremes, it will be stuff that is much faster compared to their sepf-released debut album "Shapes Of Spirits" and there will be stuff that is way slower. Some of the songs that will be on the album are "New World Obscure" (a rather heavy and uptempo track), "Cardinal VII" (the title track which is vintage Ashes to Ashes and includes the fastest riffs they've ever done), and "Dualism" (an instrumental track which will please everybody who loves "Divide & Conquer" of the first album) It's no fun to give away the whole story right now but we promise you that it will sound like Ashes to Ashes, no doubt about it.

INTO ETERNITY coming to Europe?

We have just released the self-titled debut album of Canadian INTO ETERNITY, but we are preparing the upcoming release already right now. The band is in the studio at the moment, the drums are completed and the bass is close to being finished soon. The album title will probably be "Elysium Dream", the album will be released in Europe in September of this year. Mattias Nor?n, who did the first cover and booklet for INTO ETERNITY, is working on a new cover for the upcoming album and will also do the full-colour booklet again. Right now the band is making plans to come to Europe this autumn to promote the second album. It all depends on the interest for the band, but right now it looks that the band definitely will come. Hopefully we have more information very soon, but rigjht now check out the band's first album, it's worth it!

Dutch leading death Metal Machine SINISTER welcome their new vocalist Rachel (OCCULT). Rachel will make her debut on the new album titled "Creative Killings".

SINISTER will enter the Excess Studio in May, expect the ultimate death metal explosion of 2001. Some of the song titles on the new album are "Moralistic Suffering", "Altering The Beast", "Early Gothic
Horror", the title track "Creative Killings" and "Reviving The Dead."
 
AETERNUS is currently mixing their new album "Ascention Of Terror" in Grieghallen with their producer Pytten. As the song "Burning The Shroud" proves we can only await another masterpiece of this unique band. Dark metal will rise!

ALAS has finished all the pieces for their debut-album "Absolute Purity Vol.I". The last remaining part will be the cover-artwork that needs to be 200% fitting, since this album is about to set new standards in the fields of Metal with female vocals.

ANCIENT RITES has finished their new album "Dim Carcosa" and we feel this will be their break-through, such a massive album filled with "hit"-songs. The ultimate combination of black, death and heavy metal with unbelievable keyboard-orchestration!!!

CRUACHAN has surprised us a lot, because their album is co-produced by Shane MacGowan (of THE POGUES). The single "Ride-on" even features Shane on a few vocal lines!!! The full album "Folk-lore" can be expected in August with a big progress in music and sound.

SUNSETH SPHERE is a new act from Hungary that recorded an album in their home-country. The album was excellent, thus we decided to re-mix and re-master it at RS-29 (a.o. AEYREON, WITHIN TEMPTATION). The style is very melodic, atmospheric metal with female vocals.

THRONEAEON has finished the album "Neither of Gods". Swedish death metal with a touch of US death metal, very well executed and recorded in Studio Underground to make sure the sound is brilliant!

AD INFERNA is a new signing on LAST EPISODE. The French band is into symphonic black netal and will be recording theri debut album in the Excess Studios (SINISTER a.o.) in the Netherlands. The first part of the triology will be called "Blind Dephts Of The Muse".

THE DREAMSIDE's wave gothic metal finds it's uniqueness in the enchanting voice of Italian-Dutch singer Kemi Vita. So far, the band has released the two albums "Pale Blue Lights" (1995) and "Apaika" (1997) as well as the mcd "Nuda Veritas" (1996) through Nuclear Blast. In the meantime the band has won with Roman Schoensee an estimable musician and songwriter. The former base player of PYOGENESIS has been around with his own project THE BLOODLINE as well as a songwriter for Silke Bischoff. "Mirror Moon" is the title of THE
DREAMSIDE's new album. The concept of the music is very catchy, the songs are a mixture between dynamic gothic metal and shallow electronic dark wave. "Mirror Moon" will be released 21st May 2001, THEATRE OF TRAGEDY fans will have their day!

THE DREAMSIDE will be at the Wave Gothic festival in summer!

MEPHISTOPHELES will be in the Soundloge Studio in Oldenburg, Germany
(OBSCENITY and others) starting 30th of March in order to record their third album called "Modern Instinct's Purity". The band has already a ready concept of 7 songs consisting of typical MEPHISTOFELES sound but also a few new aspects... The basic trend of the music has been established darker in order to create a sinister and more agressive atmosphere. Besides building on their black metal roots they have also helped themselves with death metal influences without neglecting their roots. The songs are still between 6 and 8 minutes long, a fact that gives time for epic and raw moments and choral music. The new singer Eike C. Kruger joined the band right after the album "Songs Of The Desolate Ones" had been released and from then on leaded the band on all live gigs (for example the Wave Gothic festival). Here's an idea of a few song titles: "Killing Conscious", "(Galaxia) An Empire Beneath The Sun", "First Death Introdus", "Bastard Blood's Prosperity", "My Enemy Divine", "Conquer Self", "Destruction", "Solarian".

Austrian symphonic black metal band AMORTIS will also be in the studio starting May in order to record the predecessor of the great album "Summoned By Astral Fires". They plan on recording between six and eight songs with the ususal length far beyond six minutes. A few song titles will probably be "The Human Puzzle", "Messiah", "19th Century Love Poetry" and "The Obscure Dance Of Distress". The new material contains more technical riffs, death metal and industrial elements, has a good portion of aggressivness and is supposed to be
more compatible for live gigs. Last but not least the style of "Summoned By Astral Fires" will be improved and transmitted.

Release date of the album approximately September 2001.

SACRIVERSUM have already released two outstanding gothic metal longplayers with the debut album "Soteria" and last years's album "Beckettia". Now they are planning on re-releasing their convincing 8 track demo "The Shadow Of The Golden Fire" from 1994. The material has been completely remastered and the re-release will also contain 4 songs of the very first "Dreams of Destiny" tapes. SACRIVERSUM then was more into melodic death metal even though their predilection for gothic metal can already be discovered.

GARDENS OF GEHENNA so to say officially opened their own "Anthrazit-studio" with the pre-production of their new album. Mastermind Bruno Kramm from DAS ICH will complete the material then in the "Danse Macabre" studio in summer. The new album "The Mechanism Masochism" will consequently persue the musical roots of the latest album "Dead Body Music": a metallic sound goes hand in hand with electronic coldness.

The "riders of the apocalypse", briefly AEBA, will start working on a new album called "Rebellion-Edens Asche" in March. The new material has become faster without neglecting the dark and melodic side of AEBA. The album will have a playing time of over an hour. Here are a few songs titles: "Sacred Angel Demon", "Flammenherz", "Rebellion - Des Zornes Banner", "Spiritual Evolution", "Dominion of Terror". Release date of the third album of the black metallians from Kiel / Germany is 18th of June 2001.

For everyone outside of Germany who has received the QUO VADIS album "Day Into Night", can get in contact with us for interviews. We cooperate with the German Hypnotic office for this release.

Again, it has been a while since the last neusletter, but this time we have such pieces of information to offer that they might
recompense the loss. Or something of the opposite then. At least the next three flashes will certainly come as a shock to the
most of you.

1) The debut album of MOONSORROW, "Suden Uni", has finally been released! The publisher is Plasmatica Records, as already
announced, and also I have some copies around for sale. From my address you can get your copy of "Suden Uni" for 80fim / $18, and for distributors I sell copies (minimum three) for 50fim / $10 per copy. Also the MOONSORROW website should be opened within a few weeks. Stay tuned.

2) Meathooked is going online (address to be announced later). Not as a webzine, though, but it will begin as a collection of all the reviews we have made for our distant #3. We have still plans of making the true paper version of the next issue, so you will
not find anything of that concept from the net. Just note that if you send us promotional material it will the most probably be
reviewed in the world wide wasteland instead of what will become, yeah, Meathooked #3.

3) And finally, Meat Hook Productions is closing down. The reasons, they are several. I simply can not find the time for running such a projekt in my future; I have my studies, I have my work, I have my music, I have my wannabe-journalism, I have my unclassified hobbies, I have my 90 seconds of relaxation a day, I have a home to run and this lovely person I live with could deserve some of my time too. Yeah, pussy you say, but try living my life and see if 24/7 is enough for you then. Also, dis-tribution is highly unprofitable, and if you have ever heard of students you know why I can't afford losing my money with it any longer. So far I haven't seen the money I have invested ever again and now I would need it more than ever. So you guessed it. All the items on our merchandise list will now be sold out once and for all. Check it out for the items that are still available and make your reservations. This particular list could well be the most interesting we've had, just too bad it will also be the last. We will not take more copies of any item that once sells out, and before the end of this year we will be out of the underground market, hopefully with an empty stock. But worry not, even though I might be gone with Meat Hook Productions some day, I am not intending to withdraw myself from the underground entirely. Or should we say at all. I am still the friend of underground metal as you (don't) know me. MOONSORROW, MAY WITHERS and all the immortal projekts are not disappearing anywhere. And there is still Meathooked, even though currently just as a blurry mass of bits.

So there. I'm open to your questions and insults whatsoever. And free beer of course. I'm still hoping to hear from all of you, in whatever surroundings. Take care.

MORK GRYNING has returned! Until this day, MORK GRYNING has always had a low-priority status, due to the member's obligations to other bands. Times have changed though, and to the fortcoming album "Maelstrom Chaos", they have decided to give MORK GRYNING full priority and turn the project into a band. Musically, the new album has a rather melodic touch, more similar to that of the debut "Tusen Ar Har Gatt", then of the second, "Return Fire". The songs should
however be described as more symphonic and worked through, and titles such as "Templars", "The Darkness Within", "Dodens Skald" (The Scald Of Death) and "The Menace", should wipe out any doubt anyone might have towards MORK GRYNING and their creativity, due to the long wait (3 years) since the latest release, "Return Fire". A new fresh element into the band, is the new lead guitarist Avatar. His virtuous playing has brought MORK GRYNING a higher level of skill, quite
unique for Black Metal bands. The album is scheduled to be released in August on No Fashion Records. Watch out and BEWARE!!!!!!!

WYVERN - No Defiance of Fate

WYVERN's new album is at last ready for release. After the not too successful debut "The wildfire", they listened to the critics and have now kicked out a real skull-crusher. A new singer was recruited, Toni Kocmut, formerly the vocalist of Swedish metallists SINS OF OMISSION, who proved to be in possession of a most outstanding voice. His majestic voice makes him equal to the very best metal singers of today, and it's no f***ing bull-shit! He has a very personal feeling and an energy completely different from almost every new power metal singer. The album was recorded at Studio Fredman (IN FLAMES, DARK TRANQUILLITY etc), and the sound, which had been so poor on the debut, proved to be another very strong side of the album. Heavy and thunderous, although clean and distinct. The music can be described as heavy / power Metal, a little progressive, a little symphonic, but still in a very own way a very HEAVY way! The titles are: "Horizon Of Glory", "The Liquid And The Metal", "Morningstar", "Starborn", "The Last Ordeal", "Like Dogs Climbing Up The Moon", "Defiance Of Fate", "Northern Union" and "The Power Of Wyvern".

After a serious fuck up by the old label B.O-Records, they have now teamed up with Swedish No Fashion records.

IMPALED NAZARENE has signed again with Osmose Productions for two albums. The band is busy writing their 7th studio album, "Absence Of War Does Not Mean Peace". So far, the band has finished the following songs: "The Lost Art Of Goat Sacrificing", "Nyrkill", "Tapettava Huora", "The Madness Behind", "Humble Fuck Of Death", "Never Forgive", "Hardboiled And Still Hellbound" and the title track.

IMPALED NAZARENE will enter Astia studio in late July to record the album. Later in August, the album will be mixed by Mikko Karmila (STRATOVARIUS, NIGHTWISH etc.) at Finnvox studio.

EMPYRIUM have finished the recording session for the new album "Weiland". We are really overwhelmed by Schwadorf's new work that is a big development to the old albums. "Weiland" combines a folklore theme with classical music and elements of progressive Rock music. Release of the album (most probably as ltd. triple Cd) will be mid or end 2001. (Will be released on ember music)

TENHI will release a new Minialbum called "airut:ciwi" soon. The new songs are a bit more experimental and ethnic than tragic folklore myths on "Kauan". The minialbum will be on a special handmade cardboard and limited.

PARAGON OF BEAUTY just recorded their new album "Comfort me, Infinity" at Markus Stock's (EMPYRIUM) Klangschmiede Studio E.
Melancholic and atmospheric metal songs and the intense voice form a strong unity.

"emptiness:emptiness:emptiness" will be released soon. The last album was celebrated by the German press and was a.o. album of the month in Sonic Seducer magazine.

BETHLEHEM just started the recordings at Klangschmiede Studio E for their new album. "Schatten Aus Der Alexander Welt" is the bilateral comeback out of the carpet. With the new line-up a completely new definition of sickness will be reached coz? the unique concept of radio play in combination with music is so different to everything Bethlehem ever did before. Nuthing seems to be like ever before...

SEASON OF MIST Productions
 
The recordings for the new DARKSIDE album are finished. The band went
to the Exponent Studio in Slovakia during February and March to record their latest work "Cognitive Dissonance". In confrontation with their former output, "Evolution", the sound of DARKSIDE changed to a more aggressive style mix of death and thrash metal in combination with keyboards. The voice is lower and the variety in vocals bigger : due to the use of two singers and choirs.

GRIFFIN’s upcoming album will be entitled ”The Sideshow”. Among the
songtitles are : “Today’s Castaway”, “Vengeance Is Mine”, “Shadows Of
Deception” and “The Sideshow”. The main recordings will take place in
StudioMega (Sweden) and start in June. The recording of classical instruments like cello and the sampling and bonus track materials will be recorded in separate studios.
 
MAYHEM hold high their reputation in being unreliable and truely fucked up. While on their way to the Portugese festival Steel Warrior Metalfest the band was refused to enter the airplane for being too drunk. Although MAYHEM usually arrange all shows themselves, Season of Mist would like to apologize to the festival organisation and fans.
