It was correctly reported at the bands web site and our web site that both the band and Neil Kernon were planning on using Studio One in Racine, Wisconsin as the recording studio for their new cd. However, Mr. Kernon felt that he could capture a more powerful, massive sound that would fit the bands new material if he switched studios. So instead of using Studio One, Mr. Kernon and NOVEMBERS DOOM are presently laying down all their new tracks at Sheffield Studios in Hammond, Indiana. The band have already laid down most of the drums and guitars, and are now working on all the vocals and vocal arrangements. Final mixing will MOST LIKELY take place at Sonic Ranch / Village Productions in Tornillo Texas, and it will be mastered in HDCD at Oceanview Digital Mastering in Los Angeles, California. One final note: Travis Smith (KATATONIA, OPETH, ANATHEMA, etc.) has once again been asked to create all the art work for "To Welcome The Fade." Must be able to rehearse in Stafford, Virginia 2-3 times per week. In the meantime, the band continue to write and work on new material for their debut on Dark Symphonies “Falling Into Bliss” and “Escape” are two prime examples of the new songs the band are working on and performing live. 5.) As a prelude to the their impending debut on Dark Symphonies, we are proud to announce the rerelease of WITHOUT FACE’s debut cd “Deep Inside” on December 10, 2001. "Deep Inside" debuted in stores in June 2000. Distributed by Hammer Music Productions, "Deep Inside" sold quite well (in Hungary alone, more than three thousand copies were sold). The album was distributed in Japan, Romania, Slovakia, USA, etc. The unique mix of gothic, progressive and thrash metal with 2 concurrent vocalists (male and female), the haunting synth and guitar melodies, and with the complex drums found many fans. In addition, lyrics are inspired by E.A. Poe, H.P. Lovecraft and H.W. Longfellow.  "Deep Inside" received prominent good album reviews in many magazines and fanzines. Hungarian Metal Hammer gave the album 10/10 points. This new rerelease has an entire new layout and artwork created by our own Shawn of Dark Symphonies!

6.) AUTUMN TEARS work on "Eclipse" is progressing quickly. The band now has three songs complete with vocals, as well as several short instrumental pieces finished. More songs are in the works and are taking form. Erika will be traveling north from Texas in December to lay down vocal tracks for the completed songs. The band predicts a mid 2002 release if all continues to
go well.

7.)  Lure of Lorelei act TWELFTH OF NEVER continues to work on new material for their upcoming release on LoL, follow up to their astounding debut ethereal release "Blowing Bubbles Through Broken Windows". In further Twelfth of Never news, the band is currently searching for a guitarist and drummer. DEMOLITION Records

Monday October 22nd sees DEMOLITION release the first single from the new shape SKYCLAD. "Swords Of A Thousand Men" (DEMCDS 001B), originally recorded by TENPOLE TUDOR in 1981, features new vocalist KEVIN RIDLEY, who takes over from the now departed Martin Walkyier. The song, also featured as a bonus track on their last studio album "Folkemon" (with Martin on vocals), gained more than favourable reactions during the band's recent appearances (which included several shows with FISH). So much so that, having reached the approving ears of TENPOLE TUDOR mainman EDDIE TENPOLE, the obvious route was to take things a step further and invite Eddie to guest on the track.

"Swords..." is accompaniedby a reworked version of "The Widdershins Jig", a
SKYCLAD standard that showcase's the bands progression over the last few
years. Both tracks are taken from the band's new album "No Daylights... Nor
Heeltaps" (due for release November 2001), which is a collection of reworked  SKYCLAD favourites, inspired by their successful stints of "unplugged" shows across Europe.

AETERNUS has released their new album "Ascension Of Terror" this month. So far the response on this album is great, resulting in an overload of interview-requests. The band will do a few promotional shows in the Benelux in January, after which a longer tour as support to Benediction is possibly scheduled for March 2002.

ALAS's mastermind Erik Rutan is busy with production jobs (a.o. our own INTERNECINE) and is looking into the plan of playing live in 2002.  Meanwhile the album "Absolute Purity" is doing fine (check out the amazing
gatefold-LP!).  Maybe some festivals will be witnessing ALAS in 2002.

ANCIENT RITES will embark on a full European tour during December supported by MYSTIC CIRCLE and ABORTUS. Possibly live-recordings will be made on this tour for an official live-CD / DVD for early 2002. Meanwhile they are
invited for a big festival in Spain, taking place in March 2002. Of course Jan and Gunther are also busy with their side-project DANSE MACABRE.

AVRIGUS has annouced no concrete plans yet for a new album.

BLOOD RED THRONE 's debut album "Monument Of Death" is causing quite a whirlwind right now within the Extreme Metal scene, and ofcourse this is justified. The band around Tchort (yes, ex-almost every Norwegian band!)
and Dod (in SATYRICON) might tour early 2002. You need this album!

CONTROL DENIED is of course still on ice, as long as Chuck is still not 100% healthy & cured.

CRUACHAN's "Folk-Lore" is being released in January 2002 and this album is way more mature, and in a way heavier as well! It looks as if they will support Dropkick Murphy's on some shows in the Netherlands and the band
wants to tour Europe in Spring 2002 as well. The album is produced by the legendary Shane MacGowan (of the notorious THE POGUES).

DANSE MACABRE will surprise the world with their new album "Eva", which came together incredibly strong. The artwork is simply amazing, the production and song-writing are absolutely top-notch... but what can you expect from
Jan "Orkki" Yrlund (ex-LACRIMOSA) when it comes to Gothic Rock Music??? Jan & Gunther (ANCIENT RITES comrades too) did an excellent job!

DISMEMBER is rehearsing for their first album on our label... said to be recorded in the Winter time!!!

DIMENSION F3H has done all the pre-production for their album. Morfeus (yes, the LIMBONIC ART-mastermind!) describes the music as a much more easy version of mentioned band, so expect futuristic / modern Metal with mystic
touches and an industrial sound.

DEMONS OF DIRT will release a 3-song single-CD in December, followed by their debut album in February. Fans of Swedish Death Metal in the Rock'n'Roll way should not miss this amazing newcomer. They will kick your ass for sure!

EXMORTEM just finished touring together with Mangled.

HAGALAZ'RUNEDANCE is currently starting the work on the follow-up album to "Volven". "Volven" will be re-released on digi-pack with 3 additional songs in January 2002.

HEKATE is doing a lot of shows across Europe to promote "Tempeltanze".

HYPNOSIA is working on songs for their second album.

INTERNECINE is laying the final touches on their debut-album "The Book of the Lambs...", which is produced by Erik Rutan in Florida. Due to legal reasons we are not allowed to make a big fuzz about the recording line-up, but there is a wild bunch of top musicians gathered in that studio... that's for sure!!!

IMPIOUS signed to us after two albums on Black Sun Records. We don't expect a new album before Summer 2002.

INFERNAL will not yet record their full length due to line-up problems, but we strongly believe that once Blackmoon (ex-DARK FUNERAL, ex-NECROPHOBIC) has his infernal horde together all Christians better start hiding and other
notorious Black Metal acts better watch their throne.

MACABRE has no plans, after the live-activities in 2001... maybe "Murder Metal" for 2002???

MERCENARY is a new act on our label (although they have done an album before). This will be our big surprise for 2002, and unbelievable album called "Everblack" will be released in Spring 2002, and this one is just simply a burst of energy... as Metal as Metal can be and maybe the best album we ever did sofar!!!

MONSTROSITY has their compilation 2-CD "Enslaving The Masses" out on the masses by the end of November. Disc one with all the great songs from the foundation days of this amazing band and disc two with a killer live-set. New album is announced for April 2002!

MORIFADE finished the recording of "Imaginarium" under the professional guide of Mr. LaRocque. Release in February 2002. Killer Power Metal outside the cliche!

NECROPHOBIC is recording right now in Sunlight Studio in Stockholm with good-old Thomas Skogsberg. Ofcourse this album will be one of the best Satanic Death Metal albums of 2002!

PRIMORDIAL seems to be slowly rising from their 2001 sleep. New songs are ready and it looks Academy Studio will host our Irish friends once again early 2002.

REBAELLIUN is still laughing at the world, since most people were blown away by "Annihilation"! Touring is the only plan for the next six months for our Brazilian warmachine!!!

SATARIEL's "Phobos & Deimos" is ready and will be released in January 2002. Produced by Mr. Bergstrand (a.o. STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, MESHUGGAH, DARKANE) and with guest-vocals by Messiah Marcolin (CANDLEMASS / MEMENTO MORI).
Fuck, this is heavy competition for DARKANE and SOILWORK, although we would say SATARIEL is more melodic.

SEVERE TORTURE's "Feasting On Blood" is currently being re-pressed as a digi-pack with two bonus-songs and a video-clip added !!! Holland's most brutal Death Metal act will most likely do a tour in Spring 2002 and then record their second album.

SKYFIRE is planning to record a new album in summer 2002.

SINISTER's "Creative Killings" is out now and it puts Holland's last legendary Death Metal band back on the map on full scale for sure. Killer production, killer songs, killer vokills... killer, killer, KILL!!!

SUNSETH SPHERE is doing a tour in Hungary now and preparing a new album.

THRONEAEON is planning to visit the studio in summer 2002, although a tour might happen since their tour with BENEDICTION was a big succes for them.

THYRFING is recording with Mr.Bergstrand as you read this. "The Fourth Outrage" is set for April 2002.

LISTENABLE Records

This can't be a step into the mainstream and we've always been following that band from Norway. We first came across their name as their vocalist (Kristin) sang on the two CREST OF DARKNESS albums we released. PALE FOREST (www.paleforest.no) are our most musically accessible signee so far, our first 'listenable' band really. The band has a huge potential and showed a major conviction during their shows with THE GATHERING in Germany earlier this year. We're getting a very positive feedback from the press so far. Watch out for 'exit mould' the band's third full length and debut for LISTENABLE to be released in November / December 2001 in most territories. The album will be issued in a limited edition luxurious cardboard slipcase.

***VALIS are new to the family and aren't we the proud parents!! You already know that Mark Lanegan is now in QUEENS OF THE STONEAGE and Tad Doyle has HOG MOLLY but what became of their old band mates?? Well Van Conner (SCREAMING TREES) and Kurt Danielson (TAD) joined forces to create the stupendous VALIS. The guys did a low key release on the now sadly defunct Mans Ruin label and then set to work on their debut release for Lunasound entitled "Pillars Of Creation". Due for release early next year.

***GENEROUS MARIA are the latest of our Swedish additions. Like a manic blend of ZEPPELIN and SABBATH with the irreverence of DLR era VAN HALEN. They've already been gaining underground accolades aplenty so prepare for their debut platter early in the new year.

Lastly the sad news is that the planned RAGING SLAB / LEADFOOT / BACKDRAFT tour planned for the end of this month looks as though it may be cancelled. Due to the unfortunate events in the USA and the knock on effect that they had on the airlines it seems that the bands won't be able to get here from the USA. Watch this space for a possible all Swedish line up as a replacement for the Nordic dates.

"In light of current events, we are changing the name of the band to something more friendly, `Basket Full Of Puppies`. Actually, just the fact that we are making jokes about our name sucks. In the twenty years we`ve been known as ANTHRAX, we never thought the day would come that our name would actually mean what it really means. When I learned about anthrax in my
senior year biology class, I thought the name sounded `metal`. Everyone in my neighborhood had a band with an `er` name, like ‘RIPPER’ or ‘DECEIVER’ or ‘KILLERS’ and I wanted to be different. ‘ANTHRAX’ sounded cool, aggressive, and nobody knew what it was. Until a few years ago most people thought we`d made it up. Even our album "Spreading The Disease" was just a play on the name. We were spreading our music to the masses. Before the tragedy of September 11th, the only thing scary   about ANTHRAX was our bad hair in the 80`s and the "Fistful Of Metal" album cover. Most people associated the name ANTHRAX with the band, not the germ. Now in the wake of those events, our name symbolizes fear, paranoia and death. Suddenly our name is not so cool. To be associated with these things we are against is a strange and stressful situation. To us, and to millions of people, it is just a name. We don`t
want to change the name of the band, not because it would be a pain in the ass, but because we hope that no further negative events will happen and it won`t be necessary. We hope and pray that this problem goes away quietly and we all grow old and fat together.

German death metal thrashers DEW-SCENTED have inked a deal with Nuclear Blast for worldwide release.  If you like modern thrash a la THE HAUNTED, you are gonna love DEW-SCENTED, and these guys have been tearing it up since 1992! Their new album, entitled "Inwards", will be released the 14th of January. "Inwards" was produced by Andy Classen at Stage One Studio. The
guys also recorded a great Slayer-cover of "War Ensemble" as possible bonus track.

DISINCARNATE / JAMES MURPHY
Former TESTAMENT-, DEATH- and OBITUARY guitarist James Murphy was undergoing brain surgery lately, which couldn’t be diagnosed yet. Currently, he’s recovering at home in Florida. Because of this, the studio date for the second album of DISINCARNATE will be delayed.

GRAVE DIGGER
The new GRAVE DIGGER album is released! (America: October 30th / Japan: November 20th).  The album got great response from mostly all magazines! METAL HAMMER Israel wrote in issue 11/2001: “The Grave Digger” is the album that a lot of German power metal bands will probably try to copy without success and if other bands are "Living For Metal", then GRAVE DIGGER are DYING for metal, and even willing to dig deeper and deeper for delivering an album which is rare as hell to find today: a kind of album that you will play to someone who wants know what metal is all about...” “[...] the album of the year!”

HAMMERFALL
The band finally made it into the swedish hall of fame. They’ll be getting a gold album early November for their actual album "Renegade", for 40.000 sold albums. Besides, the band is very eager in composing new songs. Sadly, it’s not possible to say when the next album will be recorded.

HELLOWEEN
After the final gig of the successful „The Dark Ride“ tour, guitarist Roland Grapow and drummer Uli Kusch left the band. A spokesman of the band said that they concentrated too much on their solo projects and didn’t pay enough attention to their main band. Ex-METALIUM drummer Mark Cross can meanwhile be announced as replacement for Uli Kusch. We can’t confirm the replacement for Roland yet, but we’ll announce it as soon as possible. At the moment, Michael Weikath, Andi Deris and Markus Grosskopf are working on new songs for the successor to "The Dark Ride". Be prepared for another real HELLOWEEN album.

HYPOCRISY
It is surely know that Peter Tagtgren is a workaholic, but this time he topped everything. Inbetween the productions of the new albums for PAIN and IMMORTAL, Peter did also record the new HYPOCRISY album with his band mates. The release is scheduled for late february 2002.

IMMORTAL
The norwegian Black Metal super stars just finished the recordings to their new album at the famous Abyss Studios with Peter Tagtgren. The successor to the great “Damned In Black”-album will probably be released the 4th february 2002. The european tour with label mates HYPOCRISY will start the 28th march then.

LOCK UP
Also the all-star project around Napalm Death bassist Shane Embury has recorded a new album. On this one, former AT THE GATES-shouter Tompa will handle the vocals, as he already did on several live shows to replace Peter Tagtgren, who was forced to quit the band due to lack of time. Release for this masterpiece will be February 2002.

M.O.D
The legend returns! After the successful re-union of Billy Milanos first band S.O.D., Billy now returns with his second baby M.O.D. At the moment, the guys are busy in recording new songs at Billy‘s studio. The release is set to april, and then, M.O.D.will show to the kids how to spell the word Hardcore!

Our australian Metal Heroes will finally record the successor to “Breaking The Chains”. It will be the first album with new vocalist Rob Thompson, who already replaced old singer Danny Cecati since a longer time.

PRIMAL FEAR
At the moment, the band is busy with finishing the last fine details on the new album “Black Sun”. The album will be recorded at the House Of Music studio in Winterbach, and will be mixed in January in the USA, at the Sonic Ranch in El Paso/Texas, under supervision of producer Mat Sinner.

SINERGY
Swede Mats Karlsson has joined on to replace drummer Tommi Lillman (Tommi left to concentrate on TO/DIE/FOR).  A former student at Musicians Institute in LA, Mats will relocate to Helsinki to fulfill his responsibilities with Sinergy.  In other news… Sinergy recently finished up recording “Suicide By My Side” at the fabled Finnvox Studios in Helsinki. We are anticipating a
February release.

SIRIUS
Here's the deal - As you know we have a past much more related with the Black/Death/Extreme Metal scene, in which our first two albums are based. Nowadays we're working 100% on the composition & structure of the new album (to be recorded in January/February of 2002) and it happens to be HUGE change in sound, maybe beyond someone's wildest expectations. I can advance
that our current musical stream has nowadays much more to with the style of bands like STATIC-X, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, FEAR FACTORY, MACHINE HEAD or even hints of SLIPKNOT or Rob Zombie -- all this mixed with huge electro-industrial components experimentation (did I just hear NINE INCH NAILS or RAMMSTEIN?) :-)

Osmose Productions recording artist, ABSU, is honored to announce the arrival of their fourth and newest member, Kashshaptu.  With vast experience in guitar technique and arcane knowledge, ABSU have found the perfect member they have been searching for since 1993. Proscriptor told us, “We thought we’d never find another guitarist that could fit our intricate style of
fanatical, occult-style metal music until we met Mr. Kashshaptu himself.  I must say we’re quite fortunate to find someone that lives in our hometown of Dallas as well. Now, who would have thought of that?” The band is tentatively planning to tour in the early to mid portion of 2002 and are currently composing and arranging songs for their next self-titled album: "Absu".

AESMA DAEVA promos for of "Here Lies One Whose Name Was Written In Water" are now out....and it adds to radio NEXT WEEK!! (November 13th). Please let us know if you have not received it yet. Aesma Daeva began when the solo project of classically trained guitarist Jon Prassas began to enlist the production assistance of Nick Copernicus. As the collaboration began to take on a life of its own it became apparent that the project was becoming something unusual and different, hence the birth of Aesma Daeva. A unique blend of Dark Metal and hypnotic electronics adorned by the powerful operatic female vocals supplied by the also classically trained vocalist Rebecca Cords. "Here lies one whose name was written in water" combines Metal, Darkwave and Classical music with a conceptual album feeling of etherial power and deep emotion. The album is an expansive experience, rich with atmospheric, meditational and hypnotic dark ambiance that will be savored by fans of many different genres. Essential listening by a very talented core of individuals. MORE EXCITING NEWS: We have just obtained their latest work "The Eros Of Frigid Beauty" and it is brilliant. (P.S. You can see the new cover at our website www.rootofallevil.com) The second full length release from this internationally acclaimed composer / musician is so truly great that it is leaving me without the ability to inject colorful adjectives to try and convey its awesome power to keep you listening again and again. Grandiose, majestic, dark, beautiful, deep, classical-gothic-metal hybrid, or epic are hardly scratching the surface or even drawing near to describing its driving ferociousness or its hidden secrets. This fantastic release will unfortunately go unheard to the masses (for the most part) and has guaranteed no hit potential. It will blow away your every expectation. To be released in Early December 2001.

OPAQUE promos for "Resolve" have also been sent with the Aesma Daeva. It also goes for adds on Radio NEXT WEEK November 13th. This record has been a
struggle for both the band and Root of all Evil Records from it's inception
back in the mid-90's to the re-recording with a new vocalists to the final
and inevitable output. Crushing power death core is sorta close to describing what OPAQUE has accomplished with "Resolve". Outside of the extremely controversial cover art, this release is an all out assault to the senses. Fans will recall their first effort on the 4-WAY BLOCKADE (ROE-005) and now that same intensity is transformed with a new vocalist and remixed / remastered with better production. Following a guideline of heaviness set by bands like PRO-PAIN or MESHUGGAH, OPAQUE continue to breed the non-conformist ideal in a genre' filled with cliches who rarely touch upon the wide variety of injustices in the world today.  In general, the declination of society becomes the source of most inspirations as OPAQUE explores all of the questionable aspects of human nature.  No clear-cut answer exists for why people do what they do. We are left with many unanswered questions.  It is in this exploration that the name Opaque was discovered.

SOMNUS are almost ready to unleash their follow-up to the very successful
debut "Awakening the Crown". The new CD is entitled "THROUGH CREATIONS END"
and it is magnificent! Somnus has re-enlisted the skills of Matt Cavotta of
"Magic: The Gathering" trading card fame who also did the art for their
debut. (P.S. You can see the new cover at our website www.rootofallevil.com) More on this as it develops and we are REALLY looking forward to hearing it
ourselves and (of course) getting it out to all of you! As the world spirals to its conclusion, the soundtrack will be Somnus.

IMPALER are releasing a LIMITED 4 song EP on 7" vinyl on HORROR Records in
DENMARK (all apologies for the type-o's last week) and Root of all Evil is
putting together a live CD release for IMPALER and hoping to add those 4

THEATRE OF THE MACABRE are also planning on recording their new opus
"Manifesting The Sorcerer's Lore" hopefully sometime in early Winter. What
better time to indulge in the dark frozen abyss than during the winter months in Minnesota.

LE'RUE DELASHAY is soon to be ready to unleash his 3rd endeavor tenitivly
entitled "The Law of Octaves". You can be tempted and have a taste of an
early demo for one of thease tracks on the latest ROOTS V release.  It will
not satisfy the need but will offer a temporary relief.

DEMONICON has also blasted forth news of a pending recording project for
their next slab of sickness and depravity. No concrete news as of yet but
rest assued we will enlighted you as we see fit.

MORE NEWS BITS: WALHALLA are very busy killing everyone in the world in many of their other various projects and they too are ready to record their new
record entitled "HAMMERBLAST". We will get the green light as soon as their
touring, galavanting, carousing and destruction cease. The rumors of a true
grind metal cacophony dubbed GOREPIG are confirmed and that, sorry to say
kids spells trouble. Just remember...They are all scared of GOREPIG!...and
subsequent recording and CD release will ensue due to the masses thirst for
terror (and gross stupidity). The long awaited DISTURBED (Minneapolis'Nastiest and Most Painful Band) re-issue will have to wait even longer. The dismay and trouble over the name that certin bunny type people
have hopped upon has caused certin undies to get in a bind (and not just
mine)....SO....that project will have to be shelved temporarily until we can figure out some other way of releasing this 2 CD retrospective from one of
the midwests finest undiscovered thrash-speed metal attacks circa late 80's
and early 90's. Members of that fine rocking team combo are now in a project dubbed GOD-AWFUL and it looks like they are onto drummer number 3 so
recording could be only a few short months away. Stay tuned.
