First off, let me wonder if "Rain Fell Within" is a certain kind of metaphor, and, if "yes:, what does it stand for?
- "Rain Fell Within" means something different to everyone in the band I think. To me, it symbolizes my deep inner sadness... like "tears falling" in my heart.
RAIN
FELL WITHIN definitely wouldn't be what they are without your voice! You
know, it sounds simply outstanding! Where have you been training at? Whom
would you mark out as the most talented female singes (which the bounds
of metal / goth scene, of course)? Have anyone / anything influenced you,
when it comes to vocal department?
- Other people's music doesn't really inspire me. Only my one thoughts and emotions inspire my music. If I had to pick my favorite singer out of the metal genre, I would pick Anneke from THE GATHERING. I have been taking voice lessons for about 6 years from a professional opera singer - although I don't think I would ever want to actually do professional opera.
"Believe" is almost a year old now, therefore let me wonder when are you going to come up with the second offering?
- We are writing the next album - we hope to be in the studio this summer. We're slow - ha ha.
"Believe" isn't the kind of decently executed effort, don't you think? Why have you chosen Night Sky Studio; I doubt if there wasn't a possibility to find a better place to record "Believe" at, y'know...
- Well, when we recorded "Believe" we were not signed to Dark Symphonies. It was intended to be a mini c.d. to send to labels, but Dark Symphonies picked us up when we were almost done recording it and decided they wanted to release it. We probably would have recorded somewhere else if we had a budget.
If someone transformed "Believe" into the painting, what colors would prevail?
- I think the colors of the cover portray it well - dark purples and blacks... showing sadness.
By
the way, was this color range "Believe" comes with (the one featuring purple's
obvious prevalence), chosen on purpose?
- Hm.. could you be overanalyzing this? I like the color purple. ha ha.
The time has come to discuss the lyrical canvas for a while. It appears as a pretty sorrowful one, in terms of mood and ambience it delivers... does it reflect your inner sensations anyhow? Especially, when it comes to that "Sorrow Becomes Me" tune...
- "Sorrow Becomes Me" is definitely the saddest on there, and it does come from my depressed nature, but "Believe" is the one the means the most to me. It really describes how I think of the world we live in - how hateful people are and how there is no hope for that to ever change.
How did you manage to become a part of Dark Symphonies? What's your opinion on this label, as well as the CDs they've brought the light thus far?
- I think Dark Symphonies really cares about the bands they sign. That is really important to us - that it's not all about money. I think the bands they sign are all very unique... especially MAUDLIN OF THE WELL, I love them!
If I'm not mistaken,
you took part in crafting WITCH-HUNT's "Souls
Enshrouded Fire"
CD, lately. Are you friends with Erik and Seth? Otherwise, I can't really
figure out why you participated in this venture...
- Well, although I do like the music - you could say I participated in it because I dated Erik for 2 years until he broke my heart which I am not afraid to scream to the world... so don't go looking for my participation on anything else of theirs.
What's your attitude to religious issues?
- I don't accept or deny anything.
If there is an afterlife or some
all-powerful God, I'm sure I'll figure
it out when I get there but I'm not worrying about it right now.
Did
any dream you have ever had come true? Haven't you ever witnessed what
we, the mankind, use to call "miracle"?
- I used to dream things that would come true - but nothing big. Just a conversation or something. When I was in elementary school I had a dream there was a big food fight, and the next day there was. I don't know if that was a coincidence or not.
Love / hate. What about that? Personally I don't really believe in love; more likely I consider it to be an aggregate of various sensations, such as passion, affection towards the one whom you're naming your beloved one at the moment, etc...
- Well, I believed in true love because I thought I had it. But I believed that so much - then when he broke my heart he also destroyed my belief in love - I don't think I'll ever believe again.
Do you know anything regarding Russia? Any metal bands coming from the country of mine you've heard lately?
- I actually don't know of any bands from Russia.
Anything to add?
- Check out the local bands! FORTY DAYS LONGING, GARDEN OF SHADOWS, BRAVE, MAUDLIN OF THE WELL, AUTUMN TEARS ;)
