BREAKER
“Get Tough!”
Auburn Records
rating: -
This 110-minutes
monster was issued as a double-CD, with first one being a re-release of
“Get Tough!” (the original 1987 classic, as they say), and the second one
a compilation of previously unreleased, demo and 7’EP tracks, as well as
rarities + few tunes taken off various compilations. Almost forgot: “All
Or Nothing” appears as THE SMALL FACES ’66 cover, while “Action” has been
originally featured on “Accept” ltd. ed. MCD released shortly before “Get
Tough!” was finally made available to the public. Well, it looks like it’s
been already said enough concerning what this effort consists of, so now
off to music. And it varies, to say the least. Typical and sounding a bit
outdated hard rock tunes replace surprisingly good heavy metal, and back.
In fact, “Get Tough!” would be definitely a nice gift to everyone who has
supported this band earlier, or from the very beginning (which happened
to be in the year of 1982, when I was 47 and my son 3 years old!). As to
those who’re totally into nowadays’ mainstream heavy metal represented
with HAMMERFALL and alike bands, I really doubt if “Get Tough!” will be
of interest to them. On the other hand, something tells me that old hard
rockers still pleasuring themselves with old records by JUDAS PRIEST, IRON
MAIDEN, Alice Cooper and QUIET RIOT will travel to hell and back just to
get this CD.

REGULATORS
“Bar & Grill”
Southbound Records
rating: 5 / 6
I can’t really figure
out why these guys submitted me a CD of theirs, since my mag doesn’t have
anything to do with hard rock – and especially it’s Southern blend – but
ok, let’s review this one anyway. “Bar & Grill” appears as surprisingly
enjoyable piece of (as already said above) Southern hard rock (I hope you
know what I mean), soaked with everything I use to call “American” all
the way through (once again, I hope you know what I mean). If you’re tired
of listening to your DARKTHRONE LPs for billionth time and want to have
a break, or if your girlfriend can’t stand this ho-o-o-rible and oh so-o-o
bru-u-tal death metal in the shape of MORBID ANGEL and alikes, play this
one. Satisfaction guaranteed. (Herr Stalhammar)
