HARDCORE / ALTERNATIVE / SEATTLE-WAVE

DISMAL
"Make Your Mind Up"
Division House
rating: 0 of 6
This is sincere bullshit. If I'm not mistaken, once these guys used to play black metal, however now their style is disgusting, loathsome, repulsive (and so on, and so forth) alternative / hardcore crap with horrible vocals and utter absence of what is called "music". You know, I'm open for (almost) all kinds of music, including this one, however DISMAL contrived to "succeed" in turning this CD into a miserable and absolutely worthless, let's say "effort". I hope I won't ever hear about this band again, otherwise expect my suicide. (Herr Stalhammar)

GRASS
"Ciudadano X"
Locomotive Music
rating: -
Not much to say about this CD. Since I still can't really get into "Ciudadano X", let me just try to make a humble attempt to describe what you should expect GRASS. Conceive a radioactive mixture of hardcore, heavy metal and alternative, add tons of samples, loops and programming, and finally insanely genius cover of "Yesterday" and you'll get "Cuidadano X". This is surely not my cup of tea, but those who appreciate combining the incompatible… well, I guess this is for you. (Herr Stalhammar)

SPINDRIFT
"Spindrift"
FEROX Industries
rating: -
(Irish) hardcore. Besides being not my cup of tea, it's incredibly annoying, even though I wouldn't say this CD is a crap. HC band should be truly outstanding in order to capture my attention. This one is NOT. Enough said. (Herr Stalhammar)

ZONA
"Splattiparty"
Negatron Records
rating: 3 of 6
Mixing WHITE ZOMBIE, SEPULTURA and latest BRUJERIA, what would you get? Yeah, I guess "Zona" is the keyword. "Splattiparty" is a live CD, and surprisingly the sound is a top-notch one. It's not as commercial as WHITE ZOMBIE, not as disgusting and politically correct as SEPULTURA, and more death metal than BRUJERIA. Not bad, but not for me.
