THRASH METAL

ENTER IV
“Dreams”
self-released
rating: 3 / 6
I knew it won’t be old-school thrash metal. God knows that. Satan too. My personal Whiskey-Jesuscunt as well. Man, I’m drunk. Sometimes there’s just too much alcohol. However, I guess that doesn’t release me from a duty of composing more and more reviews, as I get more and more promo packages. Ok, let’s just be honest, will we? Old-school thrash metal with a modern vibe… erh, I think, it’s not. In fact, when I looked at their photo, I was rest assured “Dreams” is going to be another nu-metal crap. I wasn’t THAT wrong, by the way. Even if it’s not a crap. Not at all. This CD offers rather enjoyable mixture of old and modernday’s thrash metal with some hardcore touches added to it, quite typical vocals as well as… well, you know. Like “excellent sound execution”, “stunning musicianship” and blah-blah-blah. Not my thing, although I can’t deny sincere approach to music. And talent.

HADES
“DamNation”
Metal Blade Records
(provided by Fono Ltd.)
rating: 2 / 6
A disappointment. For the first time (I thought) I got acquainted with this combo, was whilst giving a listen to some comp CD. I liked the tune they got there and obviously hoped “DamNation” would turn out even better. Nah. In fact, semi-thrash / semi-heavy metal with a supposedly castrated singer and socially-oriented lyrical canvas is what “DamNation” all about. Weak and poor.
