Answers supplied by: Rickard "Infernal-Spice" Larsson (guitars)

Was it you or Christian who decided to form the band?

- It was both me and Christian, and Torbjorn.

When did it happen, and why? Speaking plainer, what was the reason for starting UNMOORED?

- It happened in 1994. We liked death metal and we played in different bands before, so we met Christian (me and Tobbe played together earlier) and decided to make some music. And then it continued...

What's the recording at Abyss Studios has been alike? Any particular memories you'd like to share with us?

- This studio's lying in the middle of nowhere... In the North Sweden. It's not the big town or anything, just few houses. In general, we were very pleased with Tommy's work.

It is said that Abyss is one of the best studios in the whole Scandinavia. Is that right?

- Yes, I think it's one of the best!

I always wanted to know if Jocke Pettersson (who plays drums and tambourine on "Kingdoms Of Greed") is a real name of THY PRIMORDIAL's Morth?

- Yes, he calls himself Morth in THY PRIMORDIAL.

How did you come to sign a deal with Singapore-based label?

- We've sent our demo to many record companies, and we got the best deal from them.

By the way, can't you explain me why do they sign Swedish bands only?

- Maybe, there're a lot of good bands from Sweden and Scandinavia...

Obviously Sweden has one of the best scenes in the whole world when it comes to death and black metal, but anyway. A Singapore's label... signing bands strictly of Swedish origin...

- Yeah, that's a bit strange. I don't really know, but... I think they have one band from Japan or...

Oh yeah, I remember now! They're called TYRANT.

(*Spawns a sound similar to that when you gargle your throat*)

Are you going to keep on collaborating with Pulverised?

- We'll see. It has been well so far, but we had a contract for only two CDs. We've done that now, so... We'll see what happens.

So you don't really know what label exactly will release a third CD by UNMOORED, right?

- We don't really know that yet.

But then, when are you going to start recordings? When you have a deal, I guess?

- Nothing is done yet. No new songs or anything. We've been busy promoting the latest CD, "Kingdoms Of Greed".

I see. By the way, haven't you found a permanent drummer already?

- No. That seems to be very difficult to us. We exist since 1994 and haven't found anyone yet. It seems almost impossible.

Let me ask you a question regarding your nicknames… Isn't it some kind of parody on SPICE GIRLS?

- Yeah, that's kind of a joke. Christian came up with this idea. It's nothing serious, really.

How those nature photos in the booklet can be connected with the general concept behind UNMOORED?

- It's mostly Christian's idea, but I think... these are nice pictures "melting" with the rest of the CD. Those photos were taken on the north of Sweden, I guess.

There's a hidden bonus track one would discover listening the CD to it's very end. Sounds like techno-remix, or stuff like that... Is it really a kind of remix? And why have you put it as a hidden track?

- Well so you have found the hidden track (*chuckles*). Ok that song is not a remix of any other song or so we've done. It was just a funny thing at start that Christian made on a computer, but after a while when we listen to it we think'ed it was kind of cool and decided to put it on the CD as an hidden track, but as I said that song is nothing serious or so, just a cool thing...

Now, here comes a question which doesn't have anything to do with the band. I hope, you wouldn't mind answering it... If you were trapped onto a deserted island with a person unknown to you and food for only one to survive, how would you proceed?

- I don't know, I haven't been in such situation (*laughs*). But if you want to survive, you...

Would you be able to kill that person?

- Depends on the situation. I'm not a violent person or anything. But in that situation... I don't really know.

So you stand against any kind of violence?

- I'm not against any kind of violence, but... against unprovoked, meaningless violence, you know.

What do you know and think about Russia?

- I don't really know that much about Russia. My picture of Russia, is that it's very old stuff ("stuff"?? - ED).. Oh, I don't know.

But I guess you watch TV? What does the Swedish television tell you about my country?

- Mostly about war... Not in Russia, but...

Chechnya?

- Yeah. That's what they often talk about on TV.

Any metal bands coming from our lands you've heard lately?

- I've heard one band, although I don't know their name. It was hard rock. I heard them on radio a couple of years ago.

Seems like that's all for now. What you final words will be alike?

- (a long silence) What was the question?

(*Now it's me who laughs*)
It wasn't a question, I just wanted you to say few words in the end. Like "UNMOORED is cool, buy our CDs" and so on.

- Our CDs, had they came out in Russia? (wow, these must have been most unpredictable "last words" I have ever heard (or read)! - ED)

I don't know. I guess, they're being distributed here. You see, you can buy almost everything in Russia, and Pulverised Records' stuff is not an exception. Hence, I believe, UNMOORED records won't be too hard to find.

- The bad thing is that we don't hear from Pulverised too often...

You mean what concerns distribution?

- Yeah.

Like, they have bad distribution?

- I don't know, but we haven't seen anything. How much CDs have been sold...

But don't they tell you where do they spread your stuff and how much disks have they sold?

- They tell us "where", but we haven't seen any papers telling us "how much"...

And now, our precious reader, you'll have to stop reading this interview, since our further discussion with Rickard regarded mostly commercial aspects of the record contracts and stuff like that. A strange interview, indeed.

Anyway, Rickard's last words were:

"Ok, thanks for your support and keep the metalflag high in Russia".
