O.K. METAL HAMMER
 |
Released in the late 1989. Wonderful printing quality. 32 pages.
That was the very first attempt to make a Russian version of one of the famous
foreign metal magazines. But the result was complete disaster 'cause the first
issue featured such "metalheads" as MADONNA, SAMANTA FOX and DURAN DURAN...
Nevertheless there were some metal-related articles and news. The best thing in
that issue was the review of the Moscow Music Peace festival that took place in
August 1989. It featured Gorky Park, Cinderella, Motley Crue, Bon Jovy, Ozzy
Osbourne and Scorpions. Rumors said that the second issue was released too.
But I've never seen it. I think it's the good end for the half pop pack of paper
named after the world's great metal magazine.

ROCK CITY
 |
This one is the very true all-kinds-of-metal magazine. Established in 1991.
Really informative magazine officially published and distributed everywhere
in Russia. It's still alive and is published monthly (at last). Big news
section covering foreign and domestic Russian metal. Much album reviews, much
interviews. But you should remember that it's the OFFICIAL magazine and it
covers only officially known bands. So demo reviews and info on underground
can be hardly found in that magazine.

TRAHHH!!!
 |
I loved this one more than ROCK CITY. But it died shortly after birth...
It was also established in 1991 but there were only two issues out.
The main idea of that magazine was much friendly than of ROCK CITY. It
was easy-to-read and that was great. Recently I've heared that magazine
is back (at least I saw the issue never seen before).

IRON MARCH
 |
The SHITTIEST of the kind. This one was a newspaper established in the
end of '80s by the so called Corporation Of Hard Rock. Few years later
newspaper became zine and then - magazine. But the main thing is that
almost 90% of the contents is TOTAL BULLSHIT.
Most of the articles describes "who, when and where was drunk how much
he had vomited and how cool it all was".
Nowadays that "thing" is alive going out with a grind-core speed...

MORBID NOIZZ
 |
The powerful one. It's the Russian version of the Poland magazine with
the same name. Only one issue in Russian is out yet. It contains info
on many foreign extreme bands like In The Woods, Lake Of Tears, Dissection
etc. Also there are interviews with Russian bands: End Zone and Mental Home.
